Wedding: Fanny & Jeremy

I thoroughly enjoyed the presence of this lovely energetic lady and handsome generous man.  I still remember the engagement session we had last year.  On a stormy day with rows upon rows of dark clouds, I asked this couple if they would mind getting wet.  With an enthusiastic and resounding yes, they followed me to a plain field without a cover in sight.  It turned out to be every photographer’s dream come true.  The dark clouds served as a beautiful background against the rays of the sun peaking through.  We enjoyed a session just embracing life and nature.  They already left a mark on my heart.

Fast forward to the wedding in April.  It was a chilly day with rain.  They selected the newly-renovated Guildwood Inn for the ceremony and reception. While I love the minimalistic style of the setting decorated with light grey walls and burgundy wood panels, I wasn’t too excited about the wind and rain.  During the first look and bridal party photo sessions, it was very apparent that neither wind nor rain could dampen the love between Fanny and Jeremy.  This magic they have between them even managed to make the sun come out just as the ceremony started.

The most unforgettable moment of the day was the speech by the Father of the Bride.

I still remember the first time I dropped her off at the university residence.  When we arrived, she briskly got out of the car. I understood that she had a busy night ahead of her to get settled in.  I stayed in the car for a while and was about to drive off.  Just as I was leaving, Fanny called asking if I was still there.  Then I saw her running towards me and said “Sorry Dad, I was so focused on getting settled that I forgot to say goodbye to you”.  She gave me a hug.  I will never forget this moment.

Every father’s speech I hear serves as a reminder for me to prepare for my own daughter’s wedding.  (Vanessa is only two, by the way.)  I really can’t imagine how my heart will feel when the day comes that I won’t see my beloved at home every day anymore.  Here’s to hoping that she will find someone as considerate and gentle as Jeremy!
